The First Five-Year Plan (1950–1956) sought to improve the country’s economy and thus looked after improving the agrarian sector which included dams and irrigation.
The Second Five-Year Plan (1956–1961) stressed on development of the heavy industries. Hence, while the first plan taught patience, the second plan wanted to bring about quick structural transformation.
