Organizational barriers:

  1. If organizational policy, explicit or implicit, is not supportive of the free flow of communication, it may hamper communication effectiveness.
  2. Rigid rules and regulations, as well as cumbersome procedures, can hinder communication, as using prescribed channels may lead to delays.
  3. A superior's status may create psychological distance between him and his subordinates.
  4. Complexity in the organization, driven by the number of managerial levels, may delay and distort communication as the number of filtering points increases.
  5. If facilities such as regular meetings, a suggestion box, a complaints box, social and cultural gatherings, and transparent operations are not provided, communication may be hampered.

उत्तर २

Organisational barriers to effective communication arise in formal organisations due to factors such as authority and hierarchical relationships. Some organisational barriers include:

  1. Organisational Policy: The organisational policy may be explicit or implicit and may permit or prohibit the free flow of information. This hampers the effectiveness of communication. Example: A highly centralised organisation does not encourage free communication.
  2. Rules and Regulations: Rigid, stringent rules and procedures of an organisation may hinder effective communication. Similarly, communicating through prescribed channels of communication may result in delayed information
  3. Status: The differences in status sometimes lead to psychological differences between the superior and his/her subordinates. A status-conscious man never allows his/her subordinates to express themselves freely.
  4. Complexity in organisational structure under Barriers to Communication: The hierarchical administrative levels established by an organisation have their own benefits; however, when the organisational structure is complex, information flow is slow, and messages may be corrupted along the way.
  5. Organisational facilities: In large-scale operations, the free flow of information is facilitated by organising social gatherings or meetings and by placing a complaint box. Delays in action and information flow occur only in the absence of such facilities.
