उत्तर
- The features of good packaging relevant to the case are as follows:
- Protection of the product: Good packaging should protect products from damage during handling and distribution, safeguard them from extreme temperatures, prevent loss of product quality and reduce the risk of pilferage. Accordingly, the company can pack bathing soaps in high-quality paper or sturdy cardboard boxes, while tooth powders may be stored in small containers or bottles. Depending on the nature of the product, suitable packaging materials such as cardboard, plastic, glass, or metal can be used to ensure that the product’s composition and quality remain intact.
- Perform functionality: Good packaging should be functional and provide a convenient method for dispensing the contents of the product. For instance, tooth powder can be packed in cylindrical containers with a thin aluminium foil seal at the opening, which can be easily torn or pierced to allow controlled dispensing in small quantities. The container may also have a screw-top or flip-top lid, making it easy to close securely and preventing spillage or wastage.
- Two merits of labeling are as follows:
- Product description: A label provides detailed information about a product by stating its brand or name, ingredients or composition, features, method of use, manufacturing or registration date, expiry date, warnings, safety precautions and usage instructions. This helps consumers understand the product’s contents and make informed choices.
- Grading the product: A label also indicates the grade or quality of a product in terms of its performance or usefulness. For instance, in this case, the small company would need to obtain a licence from the Ministry of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy) and, accordingly, package, label, and sell its herbal products across India.
