Tiger found in the civil area

- Barkha Dutt, Staff Reporter

Mumbai, 10th March 2021

A tiger was successfully tranquilized after being spotted roaming around in Sector 5, Vashi, on Monday morning. After the wildcat was spotted at 8:15 a.m., the Vashi Police and the wildlife department were alerted and immediately launched a rescue operation.

The tiger, likely having wandered from the nearby forest into the city, was trapped by forest officials after over five hours of hectic efforts. Although the operation was successful, the tiger sustained minor injuries during the process. Following this incident, the Forest Department has issued a strong warning to residents, advising them to avoid entering the forest, especially during the early morning and evening hours, until the situation is declared completely safe.
