Uses of ‘go’:

  1. Go down (decrease; reduce) - Stocks in the company have gone down for the third straight week in a row.

  2. Go to bed (to sleep) - I’m going to take a shower and go to bed

  3. Go after (pursue an object or a goal) - The police went after him but he got away.

  4. Go away (leave a place) - Go away and leave me alone!

  5. Go back (return) - I forgot my purse and had to go back for it.

  6. Got to go (need to go) - Got to go before I miss my train!

  7. Go on (continue) - Well, the party must go on, whether we have caterers or not!

  8. Go up (increase, rise) - The temperature is supposed to go up to 90 today, so I hope your air conditioner is working! 

  9. Go through (Examine; study carefully) - Make sure to go through your thesis completely before you hand it. 

  10. Go to hell (angry rejection of someone or something) - How can you say such an awful thing to me? Go to hell!
  11. There you go - There you go! I knew you'd get the hang of it eventually!
  12. Let go - The baby refused to let go of the rattle.
  13. Go for it! - I'm going for a Ph.D in applied physics.
