1. While purchasing goods and services, check their quality and insist on warranty card. Consumers should buy products marked with ISI, AGMARK and other quality certifications.
2. Ask for the cashmemo for the items purchased.
3. Form consumer associations to create awareness and represent consumers in various committees formed to deal with consumer matters.
4. Make complaints for their genuine grievances. Even if the value of the goods/services involved is small, its impact on society can be large. Take the help of consumer associations in seeking redressal of grievances.
5. Consumers must know and exercise their rights.
