Welcome Speech

Good Morning and a warm welcome to everyone present today. On the occasion of Children’s Day, I, Ms. Ritika Amin, would like to welcome Ms. Malala Yousafzai to preside as the Chief Guest for today’s celebrations. Ms. Malala is a human rights advocate, who has worked constantly to provide education opportunities and better infrastructure to girls from underprivileged and war-struck nations. Her entry into the field of social work is preceded by a tragic incident. A few years ago, Malala was just another 15-year-old student on a school bus with her friends. On 9th Oct 2012, armed Taliban men boarded that school bus and shot Malala in the head. This tragic incident changed her life forever. She endured traumatic operations in Pakistan. In her famous speech at the UN, nine months later, she said, “They thought that the bullets would silence us, but they failed. And then, out of that silence, came thousands of voices... weakness, fear, and hopelessness died. Strength, power, and courage were born”. Malala’s story is that of strength, courage, and determination. So, please put your hands together for this angel of education. We are privileged to have her celebrate this occasion with us.
