Differentiating both sides with respect to θ,

`dx/(dθ)` = −a sin θ

`dy/(dθ)` = −b sin θ

`dy/dx = (dy/(dθ))/(dx/(dθ))`

= `(-b sin θ)/(- a sin θ)`

= `b/a`
