उत्तर
John Donne questions Death’s authority by challenging its apparent supremacy in the poem Death Be Not Proud. The poet argues that death is not as strong or terrifying as it is frequently depicted. According to him, Death is only a “slave to fate, chance, kings, and desperate men,” which diminishes its power. Donne addresses Death in two significant ways: first, when he calls Death “neither proud nor mighty,” and second, when he claims that Death is “a short sleep” that will ultimately result in endless life. According to Donne’s viewpoint, death should not be feared or revered because it is a passage rather than an end. Donne asserts that Death is but a temporary condition before a greater existence, removing it of its authority and mocking its arrogance.
