Give two reasons as to why Western Rajasthan is a desert.

1. Very Low Rainfall: Western Rajasthan lies in the rain-shadow region of the Aravalli Hills, which blocks the southwest monsoon winds. As a result, the region receives very little rainfall (less than 25 cm annually).
2. High Temperature and Evaporation: The area experiences extremely high temperatures, especially in summer, leading to high rates of evaporation. This causes rapid drying of any moisture, making the land arid and desert-like.
