In an electrostatic precipitator (ESP), electrode wires at high voltage create a corona discharge releasing electrons that charge dust particles negatively. Grounded collecting plates attract charged particles. Clean gas passes out while particulate matter settles on the plates. It can remove over 99% of particulate matter.
