उत्तर

Barren Island is becoming conical in shape because of a central-type volcanic eruption, in which magma flows forcefully via a single, pipe-like central vent rather than a linear crack. During these periodic eruptions, volcanic materials such as lava, ash, and pyroclastic debris are released and pile right around the central opening. As successive layers of cooling lava and ash solidify on top of one another, the height and steepness of the volcano increase. Barren Island’s unusual, symmetrical conical form is due to this layering process, which characterises it as a stratovolcano (or composite cone).
