Differences between POWER() and SUM() are as follows:

S. No. POWER() SUM()
1. To return m raised to the nth power, using the POWER() function.  The summed value of an expression can be obtained using the SUM() function. 
2. Syntax: POWER(m, n)
Returns: Value of m raised to the nth power.

Syntax: SELECT SUM (aggregate_expression)
FROM tables
[WHERE conditions] is the syntax;
Returns: The total of an expression's values.
