उत्तर

India has many species of snakes, but only some are highly venomous and dangerous to humans. The following information can be presented at a science exhibition:

Snake Main Features Habitat
Indian Cobra Has a hood; venom mainly affects the nervous system. Fields, forests and villages.
Common Krait  Shiny black body with white bands; mostly active at night. Agricultural areas and villages.
Russell’s Viper  Thick body with large brown circular patterns. Grasslands, fields and open areas.
Saw-scaled Viper  Small snake with rough scales; makes a rasping sound when threatened. Dry and rocky areas.

These four are commonly known as the “Big Four” venomous snakes of India because they have historically been responsible for a large proportion of serious snakebite cases.

Safety Measures:

  • Never try to catch or handle a snake.
  • Wear shoes while walking through grass or dark areas.
  • Keep surroundings clean and free from piles of rubbish.
  • If someone is bitten, keep them calm and take them to a hospital immediately.
  • Do not cut the wound, suck out the venom, or apply a tight tourniquet.
