उत्तर

400 m standard track: An athletics track consists of two semicircles, each having a radius of 36.50 m, joined by two straight sections of 84.39 m each. Tracks usually have 8, 6, or sometimes 4 lanes, though 4-lane tracks are not used in international competitions. Each lane is 1.22 m wide with a tolerance of ±0.01 m.

The stagger per lap for each lane is calculated as 2π × 42 inches, which equals about 263.9 inches or 22 feet. For example, to run an 800 m race in lane 5, a runner must complete approximately 3.53 laps. Therefore, the stagger is slightly less than half a lap, starting just before the halfway point, running to the finish line, and then completing three full laps to cover the required distance.
