It is known that the distance between the two points is obtained by subtracting the smaller coordinate from the larger coordinate.

The coordinates of points P and C are −4 and 3 respectively.

But 3 > −4

∴ d (P, C) = 3 − (−4)

∴ d (P, C) = 3 + 4

∴ d (P, C) = 7
