1. Organised Sector: This sector includes businesses or places of employment where the terms of employment are consistent, ensuring that workers have steady work.
   • Government Regulations: The government registers these and requires them to observe its laws and regulations (such as the Factories Act and the Minimum Wage Act).
   • Job Security: Employees have job security and are only expected to work a set amount of hours. If they work overtime, their company will pay them overtime.
   • Benefits: Employees receive a variety of benefits, including paid leave, holiday pay, provident fund (PF), and gratuity. They are also entitled to medical benefits and a safe working environment.
2. Unorganised Sector: This is characterised by small, dispersed units that are mostly independent of the government.
   • Lack of Rules: Although there are rules and regulations, they are not observed. Jobs here are low-paying and irregular.
   • No Job Security: Employment is insecure. People can be asked to leave without explanation. There is no provision for sick leave, holidays, or overtime.
   • Nature of Work: This sector includes a large number of people who work for themselves doing modest jobs such as selling on the street or conducting repair work, as well as farmers who work on their own and hire labourers as needed.
