उत्तर

We will start drawing the magnetic field of lines from the north pole of the magnet. When a small compass is placed at a point near the north pole of the magnet, the needle turns around on its pivot and settle in the fixed direction. At other points away from the pole the needle settles tangent to the drawn field line. By plotting the directions indicated by the needle, we can draw a magnetic field of lines.

The magnetic field lines:

(a) intersect at right angles to one another
(b) interest at an angle 45° to each another
(c) do not cross one another
(d) cross at an angle of 60° to one anotherv

Copy the figure below which shows a plotting compass and a magnet. Label the N pole of the magnet and draw field line on which the compass lines

Explain the following :

The north end of a freely suspended magnetic needle gets attracted towards a piece of soft iron placed a little distance away from the needle.

What do you understand by the term magnetic field lines?

Figure. shows a bar magnet placed on the table top with its north pole pointing towards south. The arrow shows the north-south direction. There are no other magnets or magnetic materials nearby.

Insert two magnetic field lines on either side of the magnet using  arrow head to show the direction of each field line.

Complete the following sentence :

If the field lines in a magnetic field are parallel and equidistant, the magnetic field is __________  .

When the conductor is perpendicular to the magnetic field, the force will be the ______, When it is parallel to the magnetic field, the force will be ______.

"Magnetic field is a physical quantity that has both direction and magnitude." How can this statement be proved with the help of magnetic field lines of a bar magnet?

Assertion (A): Magnetic field lines never intersect each other.

Reason (R): If they intersect, then at the point of intersection, the compass needle would point towards two directions, which is not possible.
