1. Natural for a society with socio-economic-cultural diversities: Every society with a number of social, economic, and cultural differences eventually develops a multi-party system. People organise multiple political parties as a result of these differences. A multi-party system is a natural feature of a nation like India.
2. More choice with voters: Voters have additional options for choosing their representatives in states with multi-party systems. Numerous candidates from different political parties run in elections in every constituency. Voters are free to select any candidate they like. 
3. Compels the political parties to cooperate and form alliances: A multi-party system forces political parties to form coalitions in order to run for office. Due to this requirement, cooperation between political parties is crucial, especially among like-minded parties. Since most parties do not win a landslide majority in elections, no party can act in an arbitrary manner.
