उत्तर

  1. In SF6, the sulphur atom undergoes sp3d2 hybridisation.
  2. One 3s, three 3p, and two 3d orbitals of sulphur mix to form six sp3d2 hybrid orbitals.
  3. These six hybrid orbitals form six S-F bonds arranged octahedrally.
  4. The molecule has an octahedral shape due to equal repulsion between bonding pairs.
  5. This explains the high coordination number and symmetry in SF6 molecule.
