1. It is the officialized version of what other sports use as a television timeout.
2. In addition to time outs, this extra required time out is intended to provide for the promotion of volleyball through play analysis and to create more commercial opportunities.
3. During regulation play, each team is allowed seven (7) charged timeouts.
4. In the fourth quarter, each team is only allowed to take four (4) timeouts in total.
