• It begins when the CPU fetches the instruction (opcode) from memory.
• Then the instruction is decoded to understand the operation.
• Finally, it is executed, and the result is stored if required.
• In the Intel 8085 Microprocessor, an instruction cycle may consist of 1 to 5 machine cycles.
