- The constitution (Article 324) provides for an independent Election Commission in order to ensure free and fair elections in the country.
- Parliament may make provisions with respect to all matters relating to the election in the Parliament and the State Legislative.
- The State Legislative can also make provisions with respect to all matters relating to elections to the State Legislative. But they can only supplement the parliamentary law.
