उत्तर

Let (n) be the natural frequency of the body (the frequency at which it vibrates freely on its own).

Let (f) be the frequency of the external periodic force applied to the body by an outside source.

When the external periodic force is applied, the body initially undergoes forced vibrations at frequency (f). However, when the frequency of the external force becomes exactly equal to the natural frequency of the body, meaning:

f = n

this special state is called resonance.

At this exact condition (f = n), the body absorbs the maximum amount of energy from the external source. Consequently, the body starts vibrating with a very large amplitude, often producing a loud sound.
