उत्तर

The name for this behaviour shown by water is Anomalous Expansion of Water.

Discussion of Differences:

  • Normal Substances: Almost all common liquids continuously expand when heated, meaning their volume increases steadily as the temperature rises.
  • Water's Unique Behaviour (0°C) to (4°C): When water is heated from 0°C to 4°C, it contracts instead of expanding. As a result, its volume decreases until it reaches its minimum value exactly at 4°C (where its density becomes maximum).
  • Behaviour Above 4°C: Once the temperature rises beyond 4°C, water starts behaving normally like other liquids,it expands, and its volume increases continuously as shown in the graph.
