Buddhi (the intellect) is a higher reasoning and discernment faculty in Indian philosophy. It is the part of the mind that makes decisions, determines values, and judges between right and wrong.

While the lower intellect (Manas) simply absorbs information through the senses, Buddhi processes it to reach a final decision. It is frequently referred to as a charioteer who steers the horses (senses) to keep life flowing in the right manner.
