The practical success of this model is highly evident through several institutional programs across India. For instance, Haryali, a Central Government-sponsored project executed by Gram Panchayats, enables rural communities to conserve water for drinking, irrigation, fisheries, and tree plantation. Similarly, the Neeru-Meeru program in Andhra Pradesh and the Arvary Pani Sansad in Alwar, Rajasthan, have successfully constructed percolation tanks, check dams, and dug-out ponds through collective public labour. Furthermore, states like Tamil Nadu have legally mandated rainwater-harvesting structures for all buildings, demonstrating that watershed management is vital for sustained ecological survival.
