• While the Indian Constitution includes several provisions for women’s protection and empowerment, such as equality before the law (Article 14), protection against discrimination (Article 15), and the right to life and personal liberty (Article 21), actual protection for women is frequently insufficient.
• Despite these constitutional provisions, women continue to suffer issues such as gender-based violence, economic inequalities, discriminatory practices such as dowry, and limited access to justice. Laws are frequently not implemented effectively, and social issues and cultural norms continue to prevent women’s rights.
• As a result, while the Constitution provides some protection, enforcement gaps and social attitudes continue to prevent women from receiving full protection. Stronger legal implementation, social awareness, and systemic improvements are required to ensure women's safety.
