Sr. No. Joint/ Complementary Demand Composite Demand
1. When two or more goods are demanded jointly to satisfy one single want, it is known as joint or complementary demand The demand for a commodity which can be put to several uses is known as composite demand.
2. E.g.: car and petrol, pen and refill, mobile and charger E.g.: electricity can be used to satisfy the want to watching TV, using washing machine, charging mobile phone etc.
3. The demand for products having complementary demand is relatively elastic i.e. a change in price of one commodity will affect the demand for the other. The demand for a product having composite demand is relatively inelastic i.e. a change in price will not affect the demand of the commodity.
