उत्तर
- Direct election: By voting for the candidates they want, the electorate chooses its representatives directly in this type of election. For instance, members of the State Legislative Assemblies (MLAs), members of the Lok Sabha (Lok Sabha MPs), and panches and council members of Panchayats and Municipal Councils are all elected directly in India.
- Indirect election: An indirect election system is used when voters choose their representatives via a number of middlemen. For instance, in the United States, the electorate chooses an oral college, which in turn chooses the country’s president and vice president. The president is chosen indirectly in India as well. The President of India is chosen by the MPs and MLAs chosen by the electorate. The Vice-President of India is chosen by the members of the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha combined. In addition, the Rajya Sabha’s members are chosen indirectly. They are chosen by the members of each state's legislature, or state legislators.
