उत्तर

The President of the United States plays an important role in the legislative sphere, even though he is not a member of Congress. He can influence legislation by sending messages, recommending bills and most significantly, through his veto powers. The President has two key types of vetoes: Suspensory Veto and Pocket Veto. In the case of a Suspensory Veto, the President returns a bill passed by Congress with his objections. However, if both Houses of Congress repass the bill with a two-thirds majority, the veto is overridden and the bill becomes law. The Pocket Veto is used when the President does not sign a bill within ten days and Congress adjourns during that period. In such a case, the bill automatically dies without becoming law, and Congress has no power to override it. These powers give the President an effective check on the legislative process and allow him to play a vital role in shaping national policy.
