उत्तर

The Battle of Britain (July – October 1940) was a crucial turning point in World War II for the following reasons:

  1. First Major Defeat of Hitler: It was the first time that Nazi Germany’s growth was stopped. The Luftwaffe failed to beat the British in the air, which they needed to do to start Operation Sea Lion, their attack on the land.
  2. Preserved British Independence: Victory kept Britain free and allowed it to continue to be a base for future Allied actions, such as the D-Day invasion.
  3. Boosted Allied Morale: Britain’s successful defence gave people across Europe hope that they could fight back against Hitler and win.
  4. Strategic Significance: The battle kept Germany from taking over all of Western Europe, giving the Allies time to reorganise and plan a counteroffensive.
