उत्तर १
The greenhouse effect refers to an overall increase in the average temperature of the Earth due to the presence of greenhouse gases. Greenhouse gases mainly consist of carbon dioxide, methane, and water vapour. When solar radiations reach the Earth, some of these radiations are absorbed. These absorbed radiations are released back into the atmosphere. These radiations are trapped by the greenhouse gases present in the atmosphere. This helps keep our planet warm and thus helps human survival. However, an increase in the amount of greenhouse gases can lead to an excessive increase in the Earth’s temperature, thereby causing global warming
उत्तर २
Gases that trap the heat of the sun in the Earth’s atmosphere, increasing the effect of atmospheric temperature, are called greenhouse gases. CO2, CH4, N2O, and CFC cause the greenhouse effect. In the absence of greenhouse gases, the temperature of earth would go down to −18°C. The net effect of higher GHGs will be disastrous. (i) Melting of polar ice caps and mountain snow caps resulting in the rise of the sea level, threatening the submergence of many islands and coastal areas. Odd climate changes like El Niño. Increased floods and drought.
