उत्तर

Basis of Difference Cortex Medulla
Position The cortex is the outer region of the kidney. The medulla is the inner region of the kidney.
Appearance It is relatively granular in appearance because it contains renal corpuscles and convoluted tubules. It contains conical or pyramid-shaped structures called renal pyramids.
Nephron parts The glomerulus, Bowman's capsule, PCT and DCT are mainly located in the cortex. The loops of Henle and collecting ducts extend through the medulla.
Relation to pelvis The cortex surrounds the medulla and extends between the renal pyramids. The medullary pyramids project towards the renal pelvis.
Function It is the main region for ultrafiltration and much of the reabsorption. It helps in concentrating urine through the loops of Henle and collecting ducts.
