A balanced chemical reaction is one in which the number of atoms of each element on the reactant side is equal to the number of atoms of that element on the product side.
Example: H2 + Cl2 → 2HCl - Unbalanced chemical:
The number of elements on the reactant side is not equal to the number of elements on the product side.
Example: H2 + Cl2 → HCl
