THE BOY WHO CRIED WOLF

Once there was a boy who watched over the villagers’ sheep. To make his boring day interesting, the boy thought of tricking the villagers. He screamed “Wolf, wolf!” so that the villagers would come running up the hill to drive away from the wolf, only to be fooled by his trick. The first time, the villagers left angrily. The boy continued to trick them over the next few days, and they warned him that the next time he calls, they won’t come. One day, a wolf indeed arrived and started chasing the sheep. The boy called for help, but the villagers didn’t believe him, and no one came. The wolf attacked all the sheep. That day, the boy decided never to lie again.
