उत्तर
Various possible reasons for the poor yield of crop despite favourable climatic conditions could be:
- Lack of preparation of soil - Soil preparation involves loosening and turning up of soil to allow deeper penetration of roots and proper aeration. It ensures uniform mixing of soil with fertilisers.
- Lack of good quality seeds - Seeds used might not have been healthy and germ free which ultimately would have affected crop yield.
- Lack of proper sowing - Seeds might not have been planted at uniform depth and distance. Overcrowding of seeds reduce crop production.
- Deficiency of essential nutrients - Soil supplies mineral nutrients to the crop, which are essential for the growth of crop plant. Thus, farmer has to replenish soil with nutrients. Soil deficient in essential nutrients would reduce crop yield.
- Lack of irrigation - Different crops require different amounts of water. Water is essential for various physiological activities of plants like photosynthesis, transpiration, ascent of sap etc.
- Presence of weeds in the field – Weeds are unwanted plants that grow along with crops and compete for water, food, space and sunlight and therefore reduces crop yield.
