A direct free kick or penalty kick is awarded to the opposition team whenever a player commits any of the following offences in a manner that the referee considers carelessness, recklessness, or excessive force:
- Kicks or attempts to kick their opponent.
- Trips or tries to trip an opponent.
- Jumps at an opponent.
- Charges toward the opponent.
- Strikes or attempts to hit the opponent.
- Pushes the opponent.
- Tackles an opponent.
If a player commits any of the following three violations, the other team will receive a straight free kick:
- It holds an opponent.
- Spits at an opponent.
- The player deliberately handles the ball (save for the goalkeeper in his own penalty area).
