Define uniform circular motion and give an example of it. Why is it called accelerated motion?

When an object is moving with a constant speed along a circular path, the change in velocity is only due to the change in direction. Hence it is accelerated motion.

Example:

1. The earth moves around the sun in a uniform circular motion.
2. The moon moves in a uniform circular motion around the earth.
