Growing the area under cultivation and intensifying cropping are the two methods to boost agricultural output and productivity. Net planted area can’t be expanded considerably because most of the physically available ground for cultivation is already ploughed. The intensification of cropping is the only remaining option. Cropping intensity is the quantity of crops grown on a field in a given agricultural year.
