p(2) = (2)3 – 5(2)2 + 4(2) – 3
= 8 – 5(4) + 8 – 3
= 8 – 20 + 8 – 3
= 16 – 23
= – 7
p(2) ≠ 0
∴ p(x) is not a multiple of g(x)
