उत्तर

Ammonia acts as a reducing agent by removing oxygen from heated metallic oxides and reducing them to their respective metals.

Heated black copper oxide (CuO) is reduced to reddish-brown copper metallic powder:

\[\ce{3CuO + 2NH3 -> 3Cu + 3H2O + N2 ^}\]
