उत्तर
Both Assertion (A) and Reason (R) are true and Reason (R) is not the correct explanation of Assertion (A).
Explanation:
If a, b, c are in A.P.,
Then c – b = b – a
`\implies` c + a = 2b
`\implies` 2b = a + c
∴ Assertion (A) is true.
Now, first n odd natural numbers are
1, 3, 5, 7, 9, ............. (2n – 1)
Here, First term (a) = 1
Common difference (d) = 3 – 1 = 2
Last term (an) = 2n – 1
The sum of an A.P. series
S = `n/2[2a + (n - 1)d]`
= `n/2[2 xx 1 + (n - 1) xx 2]`
= `n/2[2 + 2n - 2]`
= `n/2 xx 2n`
= n2
