Solar energy has a bright future in India for several reasons. First, India lies in the tropical region and receives abundant sunlight for most of the year. Many parts of the country have more than 300 sunny days annually, so the potential for solar power generation is very high. Second, India is a developing country with a rapidly growing population and energy demand. Solar energy provides a clean and renewable alternative to coal and petroleum, which are limited and polluting. Third, the government is promoting solar energy through schemes, subsidies and large solar parks, which is reducing the cost of solar panels. Finally, solar energy can be used in remote villages where extending power lines is difficult, improving the quality of life.
