The Chief justice and the other judges are appointed by the President of India. In order to be judge of the Supreme Court, a person must meet the following requirements:
- He must be a citizen of India.
- He should either be a distinguished jurist.
OR - He should have been a high court judge for at least five years.
OR - He should have been an advocate of a High Court for at least ten years.
