Alauddin Hasan, called Ala-ud-din Bahman Shah, founded the Bahmani kingdom in 1347 after revolting against Muhammad bin Tughlaq. Its decline began with the execution of capable vizier Mahmud Gawan; court jealousies, noble factionalism and weakened central authority caused internecine wars and eventual complete disintegration into five Deccan sultanates by 1518.
