At present, agricultural use accounts for the highest share of utilisation for both ground and surface water resources. The main reason is that agriculture accounts for the largest share of the country’s economy, but in recent times, the share of secondary and tertiary activities has been rising. This, in turn, will reduce agriculture’s share and increase the shares of the industrial and domestic sectors in the consumption of all resources, including the country’s water resources.
