उत्तर
Antarctica was part of Gondwana, a massive landmass. It was a huge southern supercontinent. It existed approximately 650 million years ago and thrived for 500 million years. Then it wasn’t cold. The climate was warm. There were thousands of animal and plant species, but no humans. Then the landmass disintegrated. India separated and pushed against Asia, resulting in the Himalayas. South America separated and eventually joined North America. Antarctica is crucial for understanding our planet’s geological history.
The study sheds light on Cordilleran folds and pre-Cambrian granite shields, as well as ozone and carbon levels, evolution, and extinction.
