‘Fitness of a species’’ according to Darwin means reproductive fitness. All organisms after reaching reproductive age have a varying degree of reproductive potential some organisms produce more offspring and some organisms produce only a few offspring. This phenomenon is also called as DIFFERENTIAL REPRODUCTION.
Hence the species which produces more offspring’sare selected by nature.
