The growth of trade and commerce increased after the construction of roads and sarais. Sher Shah even abolished all duties, except two to boost it furthermore. He even instructed his officials to treat the merchants well and look after their interests. Proper safety was provided to traders and the village headmen was responsible for it in their respective regions. New weights and measures were introduced. Coins of gold, silver, and copper of uniform standards were introduced.
